The TOTAL program is a brand new series of classes offered at Bucks that will teach students various computer applications in a unique, new way. TOTAL, or Technology Office Training Access Learning, will allow students to master essential computer skills.

Marynell Zieziula, office administration coordinator, said, "The new TOTAL program will provide a flexible learning schedule for students. [It's a] new approach to learning."

These new courses are arranged to suit the convenience of the students. The course length is dependant on how quickly students can learn the material. This no-pressure environment also includes self-scheduled tests. Students also have the option of working on their assignments from home if they prefer.

All of the courses offered in the program are self paced. Students may register for any particular class in the middle of the semester. In addition to being able to register at mid-semester, students finish the course whenever they cover all of the required material.

One of the catch phrases for the new TOTAL program is "Learn Software the TOTAL way." Zieziula finds this statement appropriate because of the different style of learning the program offers.

"Students can come in the lab and work whenever they want." explained Zieziula. There is a faculty member there at all times.

Zieziula said the courses are helpful for anyone who would like to "fine tune" their skills or take a computer learning course.

The course is an alternative for students who do not find the basic classroom setting appealing. All students are eligible to take the TOTAL course. It could be an experienced student in the computer field, or a beginner looking for a start somewhere. This is due to the fact that the courses are designed to relate to anyone.

Credits for the courses also vary. Some courses, such as "Searching the Web," are a one credit course. Word Perfect along with keyboarding and typewriting are both three credit courses.

So whether a student is a beginner in the computer field or an expert, the TOTAL program provides something for everyone. There are no prerequisites for the course. The courses are set to be available to students for the spring 2005 semester. Classes will be held in the TOTAL Lab. Courses may also fill elective requirements.
